There are 72 miles of shoreline along Florida’s Space Coast, and more than 1,450 mouthwatering dinning options. From the familiar chain restaurants that keep kids happy with their favorite meals to the hidden gems that feature fresh Florida faire, there is something for everyone.
I have had the opportunity to experience a few local eateries, and while each is very different in style and offerings — each are the type of place you rave about to your friends. You know, the type you wish you could find back home and makes you want to return to Florida again and again.
In no particular order, let me share some you shouldn’t miss:
Djon’s Steak & Lobster House – Consistently rated as one of Brevard Counties’ best restaurants, guests enjoy an exquisite menu directed by Djon Pepaj that includes steaks, lamb chops, veal chops and fresh seafood accompanied by an unparalleled wine and cocktail list.
Milliken’s Reef Seafood Grille – This coastal dining venue offers guests a traditional Florida menu that includes mahi, grouper, salmon, clams, shrimp, oysters, and every meal begins with Milliken’s complementary conch fritters served piping hot from the oven. With a gorgeous view of the port, its waterways and the many luxury and commercial boats that dock there, Milliken’s Reef Seafood Grille is full of Florida charm. If you are lucky enough to visit when a rocket launch is scheduled the patio offers a perfect view.
Crush Eleven – A casually hip gathering place serving up rustic-urban food, Crush Eleven is a foodie’s dream. Pairing specialty wines, craft beers and quality hand-crafted cocktails with an ever evolving menu the Crush Eleven Chefs prepare delectable dishes you won’t find anywhere else. Make sure you save room for the unique dessert offerings.
Florida Beer Company – With a selection of refreshingly crisp beers on tap including hoppy IPAs, crisp ales, nutty stouts and light pilsners Florida Beer Company is the place to go to try some local flavor. Don’t miss the specialty seasonal beers.
