From now until December 19th, Florida residents can receive 50 percent off any of the Treetop Trek courses.
The Treetop Trek experience just got a little bolder as Brevard Zoo offers trekkers and Zoo visitors on the ground a new experience – Tamarin Trek – a chance to view Golden-Headed Lion
Tamarins at eye level and from the ground below as the tamarins explore an elevated playground above their exhibit (in the La Selva area of the Zoo).
“Tamarin Trek allows the tamarins the opportunity to come out of their exhibit; up to their own mini-version of Treetop Trek. There is no enclosure around them. Each day we are seeing them start to explore the area more and more,” said Keith Winsten, Brevard Zoo Executive Director. “The view is pretty exciting when you are trekking by the tamarins and see them walking on a rope bridge or onto one of the other elements of this elevated playground we have created for them.”
Opening also is a new retail area at Treetop Trek where guests can purchase an eco-mochila, a traditional bag that is handmade in Colombia and made entirely of recycled plastic bags.

The production of these bags helps to reduce the amount of plastic in the local landfills and to create a sustainable local economy that minimizes their impact on the natural resources of the area.
The eco-mochila project is sponsored by Proyecto Tití, a conservation project that has received support from Brevard Zoo’s Quarters for Conservation program.
“We hope that guests gain a new awareness and appreciation for tamarins as they view them at Tamarin Trek and then support conservation efforts for them through purchasing an eco-mochila,” said Winsten.
