Space Coast Hospitality Industry Honors Its Own

This past week the Space Coast Office of Tourism along with the local hospitality industry honored their own at the annual tourism week luncheon held at the Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Debra Green, general manager of the Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, received the newly created Hospitality Care award for helping lead fundraising efforts to assist the homeless and prom dresses and tickets for low income children.

Yani Garcia, information specialist for the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce, won the Hospitality Specialist of the Year Award for her outstanding service to the local tourism industry.  Space Coast Office of Tourism Executive Director Rob Varley said Garcia’s “takes pride in what she does and it shows in her daily interactions with not only her co-workers but visitors as well,” even going as far as helping lost tourists by getting in her car to lead them to their destination.

Lloyd Morris, Commander of the Valiant Air Command & Warbird Museum, received the Solomon Portrait of Excellence Award for their long-standing mostly volunteer commitment to promoting the history of military aviation in the area.

The award to the Valiant Air Command tied in with the theme of this year’s tourism day event, “Come Fly with Me,” recognizing the importance of space and aviation businesses and attractions to the local economy.
