Beginning Friday, June 15, visitors to Kennedy Space CenterVisitor Complex will be given special access to the launch control room that oversaw the launch of rockets to the moon and space shuttles into orbit.
Closed to public tours for more than 30 years, the new tour, The Launch Control Center tour, will include not only a tour inside firing room 4, but also the main launch countdown clock and the “bubble room,” where the KSC managers watched the action below.
The tour costs $25 ($19 for ages 3-11) in addition to visitor complex admission. The LCC tour — along with the already-running Vehicle Assembly Building tour — will be available through the end of 2012 as part of the 50th anniversary celebration.
Kennedy Space Center’s operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tours begin at 10 a.m. and depart continuously every 15 minutes. The last tour departs at 2:45 p.m. Parking is complimentary. For tickets or more information visit: http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com
