Face to Face With Space, NASA Opens Vehicle Assembly Building To Public

For the first time in more than three decades, NASA opened up Kennedy Space Center’s Vehicle Assembly Building to the general public.  Beginning on Tuesday, November 1 guests at Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex were given the opportunity to tour the largest single-story building in the world.  As an added treat, guests  also got to see the orbiter Endeavour which is going through its decommission before being jetted off to California and its permanent home at the California Science Center.

The VAB has been added to the KSC Up-Close Tour.  Extra stops in the three hour guided tour, include a panoramic view of all launch pads from the NASA Causeway and the Apollo/Saturn V Center.

The largest single-story building in the world, the Vehicle Assembly Building was used to assemble and house American manned-launch vehicles such as the Saturn V rocket.
