That word was said by more than one of the thousands who lined up and down the beach to catch a glimpse of the Space Coast Super Boat Grand Prix on Sunday.
And awesome it was as boats ripped down the ocean, reaching speeds of about 165 mph during the two races from the Cocoa Beach Pier to Lori Wilson Park.
It was an impressive display of speed and power, to say the least. And the fans in attendance couldn’t get enough as many waded out into the water to get a better look at the action.
And the drivers didn’t disappoint.
As someone who had never really seen the boat races, I was expecting something closer to drag racing. Boy, was I mistaken. It had the speed of dragsters, but it also had the racing aspect of NASCAR.
One of the best examples came in the second race as Loriblu Racing and Stihl waged a war on the water, battling for position in the Super Cat division throughout the race. TO READ MORE OR WATCH VIDEO OF RACES
