WaterFest Celebrates Region’s Greatest Natural Resource

Boating season is here and the Brevard County Marine Advisory Council and the Brevard County Boating & Waterways Program are celebrating with the 3rd Annual Space Coast Boating & WaterFest.

Throughout the month of May, a variety of events, many of them free, will highlight the diversity of water-based activities available to Space Coast residents and visitors. Scheduled activities will focus on family and include fishing, a regatta hosted by the Indian River Yacth Club, sailing, kayaking and general boating events, along with vessel safety inspections and presentations. 

The two largest events will be the WaterFest at Turkey Creek, to be held on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Goode Park in Palm Bay, and the WaterFest at Kiwanis Island Park, which will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Merritt Island, FL.Both events are free of charge and include hands-on activities, educational displays, and free kayak use.

The Kiwanis Island event will feature a free Hook Kids on Fishing program, for which children should be pre-registered. A detailed schedule of events and information is available at the WaterFest’s official website.
