Through a joint effort between the Marine Advisory Council and the Brevard County Boating & Waterways Program, Florida’s Space Coast will be getting wet and wild with the 3rd Annual Space Coast Boating & Waterfest.
Due to the Space Coast’s many waterways, which emcompass the Indian and Banana Rivers, the St. John’s River and the Atlantic Ocean, festival organizers wanted to use the entire month of May to highlight the diverse water-activities residents and visitors can dive into in the area.
Some of the events planned, include a regatta, fishing tournaments, kayaking lessons, boating safety classes, and a poker run.
Two family friendly events include the Waterfest at Turkey Creek, to be held on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Goode Park in Palm Bay, and the Waterfest at Kiwanis Island Park, which will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Merritt Island. Both events are free of charge and include hands-on activities, educational displays, and free kayak use. The Kiwanis Island event will feature a free Hook Kids on Fishing program, for which children should be pre-registered.
