Fred Hemmings, legendary surfer, Republican leader, author, and conservation activist will appear at the Cocoa Beach Surf Company, 4001 N. Atlantic Ave. (A1A) in Cocoa Beach, Florida on Saturday June 21 at 6:00 pm.
Born and raised on the big island of Hawaii, Hemmings was one of the original members of The Duke Surf Team, surfing with the most renowned legendary surfers of all time. In 1968, he won his World Surfing Champion title, since which he has remained one of the most successful competitive surfers of all time. Hemmings then when on to become a prime mover in the establishment of professional surfing in the late 60’s and 70’s.
Mr. Hemmings will showcase his photography exhibit “The Golden Era of Surfing” to the general public and will also make a presentation entitled, A Short History of Surfing, which will include a background on East Coast surfing and its pioneers. The presentation will be followed by a question and answers and then an autographing session.
