Thank goodness it’s Friday! I don’t know about you, but this week has been horrendously long and don’t’ let me get started on the whole month of May, which seemed to eclipse the months of March and April. But even though the month is winding down, there are still a plethora of things to jump into before the month ends on Florida’s Space Coast!
On Friday, May 30, Wine Tasting – Wine Oh, 220 N. Atlantic Ave. in Cocoa Beach, is hosting a wine tasting from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wines from around the globe will be poured in order to enrich your palate and knowledge.
Also on Friday, there will be a Golf Tournament to benefit The American Red Cross. Tee off will be at 8:00 a.m. at the Duran Golf Club, 7032 Stadium Parkway in Viera.
On Saturday, the United Way of Brevard will celebrate members of its Leadership Giving Circle at Space Coast Stadium, 5800 Stadium Parkway in Melbourne with a Family Fun Day. The event will feature a kid zone, bounce house, plenty of food, and the Brevard Manatees will play the Vero Beach Devils at 7:00 p.m. with guests being provided tickets to attend the game. If you’re looking for something more interactive, check out Grind for Life Skateboard Competition Series This 3rd annual and final contest in the 2008 Annual Grind for Life contest series will be held at Cocoa Beach Skate Park, 1450 Minuteman Causeway in Cocoa Beach. This is a family fun event for contestants of all ages. The event supports Grind for Life, an organization started by cancer survivor and skater Mike Rogers.
And don’t forget that Space Shuttle Discovery will launch at 5:02 p.m. on Saturday as well. STS-124 will be the 26th U.S. mission to the International Space Station. The flight will deliver the large Kibo science laboratory module to the station for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. Even though you can see the launch practically from anywhere, Dolphin Girl Cruises & Tours will offer a Shuttle Launch Cruise which will leave from Conch Key Grille, 6533 South U.S. Highway 1 in Rockledge. The boat leaves promptly at 3:30 p.m. for the 5:01 p.m. launch.
By Sunday, you’ll probably be exhausted, but actually the week-end is just gearing up with the 23rd Annual Rotary Pineapple Man™ Triathlon! Hosted by the Melbourne Beach Rotary Club the Pineapple Man Triathlon consisting of a .3 mile swim, 3.3 mile run, and a 15 mile bike is the oldest continuously held triathlon in the state of Florida.
Also on Sunday, motorcycle enthusiasts in the surrounding area will converge on Wickham Park, 2500 Parkway Dr. in Melbourne, for the 11th annual Art of Harleys Festival benefiting CBC Brevard and featuring the raffle of a 2008 Harley Davidson Street Bob and $500 shopping spree!
Well whatever you do to spend your last few days of May make sure they’re safe!
